From 1980 to 2011 one can see how the population of Oakland has been steadily decreasing with time since it's peak in 2000. Considering how ecologically careless most people are this means that the environmental impact of the population should be decreasing, too, but this is but a guess. 5 years ago the Arrowhead marshes were much cleaner and clear but today they are considerably browner and one cannot see the bottom unless one were just near shallow water. Economically a negative population growth is not a good thing because that means less labor forces.
